Cross Enterprise Document sharing (XDS)
Enhance the level of patient care with timely, reliable and relevant healthcare information. Rogan-Delft has extended its range of supported IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) profiles with XDS.a, XDS.b and XDS-I. This allows you to use the Rogan Zillion PACS not only within your own institution but also in conjunction with other XDS-compliant systems. For instance institutions in a region using XDS can maximize access to relevant patient information.
Viewing images anytime, anywhere but in a secure way Images are also needed outside the institution where they were acquired. Users of the Rogan Zillion products will be able to publish information and images on the internet to restricted users e.g. General Practitioner. Meanwhile workstation users are allowed to view images that are available on other archives. Distribution of patient information over the internet is done in a secure way.
Enhancing the level of patient care The integration in the workstation allows you to instantly find prior images of a patient on archives in the area that collaborate in an XDS domain. Because the information in the central XDS registry is joined with the information from the local Zillion PACS, you are looking at a virtual archive that crosses the borders of the institutions.
In this manner the level of patient care can be enhanced. Images are instantly transferred securely over the internet instead of being burned on CD. This CD is subsequently deliverd to the requesting institution that has to import the data if possible..
The technology As a PACS vendor, Rogan has implemented the XDS-I protocol in both its Online XS archive and its View Pro-X workstation. The XDS (Cross Enterprise Document Sharing) profile uses web services to distribute patient information securely over the internet.
To complete its XDS suite of applications, Rogan has developed an XDS Registry and an XDS Repository. The Repository can be used in a region, but also for a small scale XDS domain within an institution. The Repository is tightly integrated with Rogan Zillions OnlineXS archive. All documents are archived together with the DICOM data in a single process. Whenever patient information changes in the PACS, the Repository is automatically updated. But the Repository can also be used by other XDS Document Sources, enabling an institution to archive DICOM and non-DICOM documents in a single system.
This all fits in the vision of creating an EHR (Electronic Health Record) and maximizing the possibilities of accessing available medical data.
Rogan will follow the developments of the IHE profiles closely, as new content profiles, security profiles and patient identification profiles are added. Meanwhile, at the last Connectathon in Oxford, Rogan proved that its existing XDS profile implementation and other IHE profiles are fully compliant with the standard.
